<span style="font-weight: bold;">Guano Apes is a German band born in Gottingen, in 1993. Formed by college friends Rümenapp Henning (guitar), Dennis Poschwatta (drums) and Stefan Ude (bass), and then by the (very!) talented Sandra Nasic
(vocals), the band performed for 10 years in the worldwide music scene,
producing several successes and true hymns for a legion of fans,
orphans since 2004 when the band officially announced their separation.
Although not yet official (from the band), the Austrian portal Nova Rock announced the return of this great musical group, with a presentation in June 2009 in Nova Rock Festival.
But while we wait for a confirmation of Sandra and company, lets learn
a little more about one of the most popular bands in musical history of
Germany.
HYMNS FOR STARDOM: PROUD LIKE A GOD (1994 - 1999)
The band started their musical career in 1993, playing at local clubs
and winning the public, even modestly. At this time, the songs "Get Busy" and "Maria" were selected for the Local Heroes competition, promoted by the TV channel VIVA, in 1996. Leaving behind more than a thousand bands, Guano Apes won the contest and a one-year contract with the publisher GUN, in addition to a cash prize that was used to record the first video of the band, "Open Your Eyes". In 1997, just weeks after the release of the first album, Proud Like A God, it had already reached the peak in sales on Germany and spread to neighboring countries (in 1998, "Lord of the Boards was chosen to be the official anthem of the World Snowboard Championships, in Austria). In Portugal, the album earned the Platinum Award, and had successful sales also in the Netherlands and Poland. In 1999, the band recorded the song "Dont you turn your back on me", especially made to integrate the soundtrack of the movie Meschugge.

DEFINITION OF SUCCESS: DONT GIVE ME NAMES (2000-2001)
Without rest, the band released 2000's Dont Give Me Names, which included songs played on previous tours. The album spawned the singles "Big in Japan", a remake of the success of 80s by the band Alphaville, "No Speech", "Living In A Lie" and "Dödel Up". This album represents the consecration of Guano Apes, reaching in some countries an even bigger success than the first album.
The tour of Dont Give Me Names was finished in 2001, when the band decided on a rest - but not before writing , with the German comedian Michael Mittermeier, the song "Kumba Yo!".
